REGIONAL INTEREST
NETWORKING GROUPS (RINGs)
RINGs or Regional Interest Networking Groups are NEDRA programs to create networking opportunities for prospect researchers. RINGs are locally organized meetings intended to provide informal opportunities to meet and know fellow researchers in your geographic area, or from your type of organization, such as arts, higher education, secondarly schools, social services, religious, etc.
A RING meeting may be a simple get-acquainted session over a brown bag lunch, or it could be a discussion about an agreed-upon topic. The following areas have held RINGs in the last year: Boston, MA, Connecticut, Amherst, MA, and Maine.
HOST OPPORTUNITIES: Hosts are needed for all regions. Please contact Nancy Faughnan, Programs Chair if you are potentially interested in hosting.
TO SIGN UP FOR A RING: Check the NEDRA website. As a NEDRA member,
you're invited to every RING. To register, indicate your interest by contacting
the host of the RING by email or by phone.
HOW TO HOST A RING: All NEDRA members are welcome to initiate/host a RING meeting. Please contact Nancy Faughnan, the RING Chair listed below who can provide a list of current NEDRA members interested in attending RINGS in your region, and can explain how previous RINGs have been coordinated. Most RINGs have been held as luncheons, and have been approximately 2 hours in length, but breakfast or evening meetings may also work for your RING. We encourage RING members to rotate the role of hosting, and to use broadcast email messages for communicating meeting notices.
For a sample announcement, see the Events page at the NEDRA website and scroll down to view upcoming and/or past RING events. Very likely the agenda of the first RING meeting will be getting acquainted, identifying group interests for future meetings, and identifying the next host. We encourage RING members to rotate the role of hosting, and to use broadcast email messages for communicating meeting notices.
INVITING NON-MEMBERS: We encourage you to invite non-members to RING meetings. However, please have some NEDRA brochures on hand, and encourage non-members to visit our website and to consider attending upcoming events.
RING Chair: For information on NEDRA members interested in attending RINGs, contact Nancy Faughnan, Assistant Director of Prospect Research, Yale University, 203-432-7727.
