The Hurun Research Institute today released the Hurun Philanthropy List 2012, the ninth edition since the list was founded in 2004. The Hurun Philanthropy List 2012 ranks the 100 most generous Chinese individuals, measured by the value of their cash or cash equivalent donations from 1 January 2011 to 31 March, 2012. Donations made by a corporate in which an individual has more than a 50% holding, are also recognized as being a part of that individual’s personal donation.

Aristotle is famous for saying a person who has never learned to obey can never be a good leader. The axiom still holds true today in any leadership role. For hospital executives in an era of great uncertainty, learning from predecessors and previous experiences is what has made these following 100 hospitals as successful as they are today. Their leadership continues to serve as a primer for the future. Here are the presidents, CEOs and/or primary leaders of the Becker's Hospital Review 100 Great Hospitals, listed in alphabetical order.

For hospitals and health systems, physician compensation will always be a hot-button issue. Branching out and attracting physicians is a core goal of any health organization, especially with the advent of accountable care organizations, but because physicians go through thorough and rigorous medical training to deliver the highest possible care to patients, they must be compensated appropriately.

"...At Harvard, where the administration locked down the main campus in response to the Occupy protests last fall, the gates leading to Harvard Yard may have been reopened, but the mental gates seem to remain very much closed when it comes to discussions of the investment of the university's $32-billion endowment."

Very soon, Facebook will go public. That means anyone will be able to buy shares of the social networking giant on the Nasdaq exchange. But sophisticated investors have already been buying pieces of Facebook and many other hot tech stocks, on private exchanges....And now it seems that trading in private company shares is poised to grow, thanks to recent changes in the law.

The Federal Communications Commission is inviting comments on a proposal to allow public radio and television stations to raise money for any nonprofit. Now stations are solely allowed to raise money for their own programs and operations, in part because regulators wanted to ensure broadcasters put all their energy into educational programs.
