    The State of Nonprofit Data report was released this week. Idealware and NTEN prepared the report based on a  survey in April 2012 with nearly 400 nonprofit organizations about how they manage and use data.   The report found that nonprofits are either doing a lot with their metrics or not much at all.

    John Pelletier, Director of the Center for Financial Literacy at Champlain College, believes he has the funding solution: Every time a bank crosses the line and must pay a fine, regulators should tack on a surcharge to underwrite financial literacy programs.

    Predictive modeling and wealth screening are great ways to identify potential major gift prospects who you may not have considered in the past.  You can also mine your own database to find these prospects too.

    At issue is a U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission proposal introduced in August to relax rules that have kept hedge funds, private-equity firms and small companies from soliciting to the general public for decades. The proposal is going through a comment period, but hedge-fund advertising is likely to be implemented in 2013.
