Everyone knows that there are good debts and bad ones. We worry about running up hefty credit card bills but are sanguine about taking on immense debt to buy a flat. A student loan has to be the best kind of debt; the repayment is a small fraction of your income and in the unlikely event that you never earn more than £21,000, you won't have to pay back a penny.
