Research Basics Bootcamp

NEDRA presents a full day of instruction in the essentials of prospect research. This training is a must for those new to research, or those who have had research added to their roles. No experience in the field is necessary to begin learning how to apply professional research methodologies. This full day of learning will cover such subjects as:


  • The Strategic Role of Advancement Research
  • Prospect Research Fundamentals
  • Advancement Research Sources and Methodology
  • Assessing Gift Capacity
  • Presenting Research


Morning refreshments and lunch will be served.



Faculty:

 

Tim Enman is a research analyst with seven years of experience. Prior to joining the development team at Smith College in 2013, he was a prospect researcher with Clark University in Worcester, MA. Before beginning his career in development, he worked with Sentient Jet in South Weymouth, MA, arranging private air travel for high-net-worth clients. He holds a B.A. from Concordia University in Montreal, QC. Tim is an active NEDRA member and currently serves on the Programming Committee.

Directions:


From the South:

Northampton is on Route I-91 in Massachusetts. Take Exit 19, and turn left onto Route 9 West. Go straight through seven traffic lights, turning left into Smith’s main  entrance (College Lane) shortly after the seventh set. The Conference Center is just under a quarter mile down College Lane, to the right, overlooking Paradise Pond. Bear right and head down the hill at the fork in the road just past the Conference Center to park in the Ainsworth lot, or bear left to continue on to Green Street towards the Dickinson Lot, which will be on your left. Continuing on Green Street will lead you to a T-intersection with West Street. The Parking Garage will be immediately visible to your right, about one block down West Street.

 

From the North:

From I-91 South, take Exit 20, and follow onto Route 5 south into the center  of town. At the intersection of Route 5 and Route 9 (Main Street), turn right onto Route 9. Then follow the same directions as above from Route 9 to campus.


From the East or West via the Massachusetts Turnpike:

Northampton is on Route I-91  North (Mass Pike exit 4). Once on I-91, follow the directions above for visitors from the south.
