MENTORSHIP COMMITTEE

(3-5 LEARNING NETWORK)


The Mentorship Committee is responsible for planning and executing the 3-5 Learning Network program. This is done by planning the program sessions, recruiting Network Advisors, recruiting Program Guides, marketing the program, reviewing and evaluation of applicants, assisting with curriculum planning, monitoring the program via feedback after each session and feedback at the end of the program.

  

The Mentorship Committee is co-chaired by Nancy Lee of Dartmouth College, George Tabet of MIT and Sarah Wallace of Avon Old Farms School. Other Committee members include Christine Freiburger, Ruthie Giles, Robin Hess, Dana Hubbard, Elana Pierkowski and Abbey Van Dorn.


Volunteer Tasks
Specific tasks of the Mentorship Committee include:

  •  Help plan the programming sessions for each program
  • Identifying and helping to recruit prospective Network Advisors
  • Identifying and helping to recruit prospective Program Guides
  • Assisting with scheduling of session for the program
  • Assisting in preparation/drafting/editing of copy for program marketing materials
  • Assisting in the review of applicants for the program
  • Working with the Network Advisors and Program Guides on session specific curriculum
  • Assist with preparing, sending, and collecting feedback surveys after each session
  • Working with the Mentoring committee to incorporate feedback into planning the next program


Volunteer Time Commitment:
The Mentorship Committee meets every month via conference call for one hour, and conducts business outside of these calls by phone, text, and/or email. In the months leading up to the start of a new program, the committee may meet as often as twice a month to handle marketing needs, application review, and assist with curriculum prep work.
