PROGRAM DESCRIPTION:

Come enjoy a lively panel discussion with seasoned researchers from three institutions. They will share their unique experiences of creating and implementing prospect management systems within their organizations. You will hear about what went well, what failed miserably, what the challenges were and what the pleasant surprises were. They will share how they used analysis, databases, spreadsheets, and reports to help them along the way with this work. There will be ample opportunity for you to ask questions and share your own experiences.


PANELISTS:

Amitha Vasanth, Development Researcher, UMass Medical School

Amitha is Senior Advancement Researcher for the University of Massachusetts Medical School and UMass Memorial Medical Center. She manages all prospect research and data requirements of the development staff and senior leadership and plays a key role in establishing policies, procedures and protocols pertaining to the database. Prior to joining UMass, Amitha worked as program officer for a community-based organization and as a journalist in India. She has Master's and Bachelor's degree in Politics and International Relations.


Ruthie Giles, Senior Researcher for Prospect Management, Mount Holyoke College

Ruthie has worked in prospect research and management for nearly 20 years. Her area of expertise is in creating and implementing prospect management systems. Ruthie has successfully instituted prospect management systems at several organizations, tailoring each one to the organization’s unique needs. Prior to working at Mount Holyoke College, she worked at Harold Grinspoon Foundation, The Loomis Chaffee School, and The Williston Northampton School. Ruthie holds a BA from Smith College, an MBA from the University of Massachusetts at Amherst - Isenberg School of Management, and a MS in Nonprofit Management and Philanthropy from Bay Path University.


Liz Gribbons, Director of Prospect Research and Management, Worcester Polytechnic Institute

Liz has 10 years of experience working in prospect research and management. As the Associate Director at the College of the Holy Cross, she developed a prospect management system for a team of 11 gift officers. This labor of love included evaluating and setting protocols for capturing donor information, analyzing data to find their best potential supporters, and leading portfolio reviews to facilitate prospect movement thru the pipeline. For the past year, Liz has been working to grow these same efforts at WPI, which includes both major giving and annual fund prospects. Liz holds a B.S. from the University of Maryland.

DIRECTIONS:

From I-495:

North or South take exit 23B from Rte 495 to Rte 9 West (towards Auburn and Worcester). Continue west approximately 6 miles. Take a left at the traffic light directly in front of Wagner Kia of Shrewsbury onto South St. As you head up the hill you will see a University of Massachusetts sign on your left, take a left here and follow the access road to Chestnut St stop sign. Take a right at the stop sign, South Street Campus is located on the left hand side of the road.


From I-290 or I-190:

From Rte 190, take Rte 290 East. Stay on Rte 290 to the Rte 140 South exit. At the end of the ramp, take a right, follow this to downtown Shrewsbury. You will come to a set of lights, go straight through the lights, travel approximately 1 mile, and take a right at the Rte 9 East sign. At the set of lights take a right onto South St. Heading up the hill you will see a University of Massachusetts sign on your left, take a left here and follow the access road to the Chestnut St stop sign. Take a right at the stop sign, South Street Campus is located on the left hand side of the road.


From the Mass Pike/Boston Area:

Take Mass Pike West to Rte 495 North exit 11A to Rte 9 West towards Auburn and Worcester. Continue west approximately 6 miles. From the Mass Pike/Sturbridge - Springfield Area:

Take the Mass Pike East to exit 10 in Auburn. Take Rte 290 East to the Rte 140 exit towards Shrewsbury. At the end of the ramp, take a right, follow this to downtown Shrewsbury. You will come to a set of lights, go straight through the lights, travel approximately 1 mile, and take a right at the Rte 9 East sign. At the set of lights take a right onto South St. Heading up the hill you will see a University of Massachusetts sign on your left, take a left here and follow the access road to the Chestnut St stop sign. South Street Campus to Boston Logan Airport:

Take a left out of the west parking lot. Go straight to end of the road until you reach Rte 9. Take a right onto Rte 9, heading East. Go approximately 6 miles and take 495 South. Once on 495 South, take the next exit which is the Mass Pike. Go East on Mass Pike towards Boston. Once in Boston follow the airport signs.
