    With a 10.9% increase from March 2012 to this March, home prices continued their upward trajectory as measured by the S&P/Case-Shiller Home Price Index. The index has been rising for some time, but the pace of the increase is now the highest since the “bubble” days of April 2006.

    The U.S. consumer-confidence index climbed to a five-year high of 76.2 in May from a slightly revised 69.0 in April, the Conference Board said. The increase beat the forecast of economists polled by MarketWatch, who expected the index to rise to 72.3.

    During the last presidential election, the role of analytics in decision making and prediction moved to the forefront in the minds of many as a way to gain an advantage in competitive situations.  For a data nerd like myself, this was refreshing, as the average citizen started to gain a new found respect for a set of skills that had always largely been viewed as the sausage making that decision makers weren’t necessarily interested in understanding.
